"Social Investment Ten Years On"

In April 2000 the Social Investment Task Force was established at the request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer to carry out an assessment of the ways in which the UK could achieve a radical improvement in its capacity to create wealth, economic growth, employment and an improved social fabric in its poorest communities.

Since the publication of its initial report “Enterprising Communities:  Wealth Beyond Welfare” in October 2000, much progress has been achieved and the Task Force has continued to meet periodically to monitor progress and to consider issues and initiatives to take the social investment agenda forward.

“Social Investment Ten Years On”.  This is the final report of the Social Investment Task Force.  It summarises the progress that has been made in establishing a social investment market in the UK and suggests some important government initiatives to develop a powerful social sector capable of working alongside government to improve the lives of the less fortunate in our society.
